Natural High

 

Neutral colors, naturally inspired textiles... leathers, suedes, wool and cotton are just some of those featured in today's post. I was impressed by the simplicity of these silhouettes and the richness of the textures that they are made with, easy and comfortable and things you can feel good wearing. Accessories made of wood, bone and feathers add a special earthy touch, but no actual animals were harmed in the creation of this post, a few errant crows however, did have to cooperate for a long day of shooting pictures.

 

The first look is all about the beautiful strapless Awe Dress from Celoe, with a fitted leather bodice and wheat colored skirt. I added the oh-so-long Blake hair from LeLutka, and to round out the look I added some chunky wood and metal jewelry, and the Maitreya Devi boots, that are quickly becoming a staple in my wardrobe. Unfortunately, because I have been away from SL for a while, my inventory is in need of some updating, some of the accessories I am wearing here may no longer be available in SL (see notes at the end of the post), the trade off however, is looking back at some great items that may be 'new' to someone else and are still around to purchase.

 

Nothing has quite the same natural feel as a heathered cotton t-shirt, this one, an exceptional tucked in version from tres blah, is just perfect with the Fanatik leather pencil skirt in a rustic finish, and combination that I stole from Sasy Scarborough when she blogged a similar combination on her blog Sasypants. I went with an edgier look for my hair here, wearing Teeloh from Wasabi Pills, I am wearing it with a normal hairbase instead of the shaved versions that come with the hair, it still has that unique feel without the razor's touch. I loved the look of the Feathers Cape necklace from Glow Studio, the combination of layered chains and a fistful of feathers stands out against such a simple top. The rest of the goodies are from the depths of my inventory, the shell purse from Cachet (Thora Charron) may still be available at LeLutka, the suede SoHo boots are Maitreya, I love the slouchy style with the cute heel.

 

A little more digging and I was able to pull together a fun third look, none of these items are new, or mesh... but they still have the appeal of nature. I started with the feathered skirt from COCO, which lead me to the Salience shoes from Maitreya Gold, the combination of Leather, feathers and beads make these shoes memorable. I added the Bone Feather set from Paper Couture, and relied on an old trick... hand tinting a few of the bone feathers of the necklace to match the accent colors of the shoes, not something I could have done with most mesh accessories available as new releases. The short Corseted Tweed Jacket from The Sea Hole, had just the right amount of shape in the shoulders and sexy details to finish off the look. I am also wearing the Slink Mesh hands again for this post, I am loving working with them and the many interchangeable hand 'expressions' available.
