Oh Industry

Step In Time

More looking ahead to Fall today, this time inspired by the latest from TRUTH Hair, which can be found at a new event called The Seasons Story. Juniper is a long and slightly wind-blown style topped with a smart wool hat, it comes complete with an easy color change HUD for both hair texture and hat color.

 

The outfit is a collection of Items from the new round of Collabor88. ISON has outdone itself with a generous new Fall Collection, included amongst these treasures are the over-the-knee riding boots, folded leather clutch and wool shorts with sheer trim, included in this look. The cardigan by Color.Me.H.O.F., a luxurious piece of work with golden buttons on the cuff, and belt closure. The Oversized pendant and ring by Maxi Gossamer, with its organic feel and colorful options, add an extra layer of timely detail.

 

Another beautiful Collabor88 skin offering from Glam Affair, Shanna is soft and is available in some truly exciting and colorful make-ups, but shown here is a softer more natural face. Taking a step back in time I added a silky camisole by League, and a pair of sheer olive stockings from Battered Boudoir. The complete look is one of the reasons that Autumn is my favorite season, the colors and textures, the leather and lux details, all make for easy wearing and gorgeous results. Give A Girl The Right Shoes...

The saying goes, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”, and the girl who said it? Miss Marilyn Monroe. This post marks the first of a new series featuring a completely new collection of shoes created by a man that is, in my mind, giving us girls just what we need to conquer our virtual world... and this celebrity cordwainer? He goes by the name of Gos. The shoes are part of his much lauded Boutique Collection, and I may not have been the first virtual shoe lover to sing their praises... but a good shoe is timeless, and my take on these styles might just be the one you were awaiting before taking the plunge, or better yet... working on your special someone far enough in advance that they know exactly what you want for Valentine's Day!

Chapter One: The Architect

 

Every shoe needs to have that magical balance between form and function, while we may not exactly ever get heel blisters or pinched toes in SL, we are acutely aware of the beautiful shape of a heeled shoe. The balance of the perfect platform, the arch of the undersole and the tapered heel that seems to whittle down to almost nothing. The architect of a beautiful shoe has a key role in its planning and design, and must oversee its construction.

 

The Sophia Peeptoe shoes by Gos are a perfect example of this, they have a gorgeous sexy shape, a generous platform and that little peek of toe cleavage that is always appreciated. The satiny fabric that emerges from the sole and twists itself across the front of the shoe is another stunningly realized touch. In any color, on any woman, these shoes have retro flare for the modern sex symbol. There is a whole lot of technical magic going on behind the scenes with this new line of shoes... more about that in Chapter 2! Stay tuned. (styling notes below.)

Wear Me Out

A blog post featuring a couple of fun looks, perfect to get me through the weekend, and a little plea for all of you fashion fans... I am so in love with the recent mesh releases from Baiastice, I keep coming back to them and wearing them again and again, which is a big deal, because I have so many things to choose from. I am mixing up some items from FaMESHed and a find from the 'With Love' Hunt, hairs from Argrace; new and old, and even a freshly released jacket from Erratic that is really two.

 

This first look has the feel of something you might want to wear to a holiday cocktail party, do something unexpected and stay away from dresses and skirts and go for some classic shorts paired with tall boots. The shorts, of course, are from House of Fox, and I have blogged them before, paired with the new richly textured Emma Jacket from Baiastice, and the amazing Monaco Nights Necklace from Maxi Gossamer, they become suitable party wear (both at the current round of FaMESHed). The clutch is a Just Design goody from the 'With Love' Hunt,  and the new mesh hat with hair from Argrace makes me so happy, I love the versatility of a color change hat!

 

More Argrace was the starting point for the second look, though this style is an older one, I like to think this outfit would be great for a little holiday shopping or visiting with friends. If you are in the market for a great leather jacket, this newly released Vanity Jacket from Erratic does the trick, double time, you get both an open and closed version, it looks buttery soft and fits really well! The new mesh gloves from Baiastice are a great add on in blue, and the Celoe Chardonnay pants in the same hue add color and contrast to the orangey Pecan shade of the jacket. The bag is from DDL, they have a nice little selection of handbags and satchels, worth a look.

 

A special shoutout for Dutch Touch, a wonderful store that will be closing at the end of this month. I strongly urge you to make a final visit and be sure to pick-up some of the great system tops, lingerie and hosiery, these items hold up amazingly well and the quality is fantastic. Keep in mind that mesh on mesh layering can be tricky, but throwing on a great detailed under-piece like the Lizz Top I am wearing under my jacket, is a great option, and Iki Ikarus has a really great selection available!

Living In Color

Just when I had resigned myself to the upcoming Winter doldrums, two fantastic designers made me do a 180, with incredible brights and fun designs. I was inspired to play up a hint of Burlesque, maybe it was the frothy fluffy fur hats and collars by Maxi Gossamer, out today at Collabor88, or the circa 1980s brights of Maitreya Gold's latest release, Liaison.

 

I do love a fun hat, and the colors of these seemed just perfect to inject a little energy rush into my blog post. Maxi Gossamer didn't stop with a great hat, she gave us the collars too, they can certainly be worn together or split up for a little less 'look', and as always Maxi maximizes the value of her creations by offering us 2 shades per pack, that is two hats and two collars for that great Collabor88 price. I was so lucky to get in a grab them the first day.

 

Another designer that consistently gives you more than one look per purchase is Maitreya, especially when it comes to items in her Maitreya Gold footwear series. Once again Onyx LeShelle gives us the 'Transformers' of shoes, it is a pump with a super sexy slim metal heel, but it also can be an ankle strap pump, or one with a knit half sock (with or without the ankle strap), and the colors range from great neutrals to neon brights. You also get a healthy range of sock colors and even a selection of sole colors. Such great value!

In The Bag

Inspiration for a new outfit can come from many sources; a mood, a color, a great pair of shoes... and oh yes, a great little bag. Sometimes the pieces don't come together all at once, but I am constantly collecting bags whenever I find one that is a little special, and sometimes the pieces fall into place just like that. My taste in purses, bags and clutches is as eclectic as the rest of my wardrobe, running the gamut between practicality, fashionability and whimsical cuteness.

 

The little hedgehog clutch by Snowboa, was a Marketplace find and I was thrilled to see the level of detail was as good as the picture made it look. This sweet little thing haunted me, wanting to find just the right outfit to wear it with. When I saw the latest little cocktail dresses released at Eaters Coma, my memory for color kicked in and I just knew I had found the right thing. I added a few darker touches, the little bolero sweater from Innoc, and these perfect Ren lace-up boots from LeLutka, and the result was as cute as the clutch.

 

The Jewel toned and chunky gold accented stud bag from Swallow was the next gem to make the cut. I found the button down shirt from House of Fox, the gold studded collar was a perfect match. I pulled out more color from the bag with the cute skirt from Whippet & Buck, the tights from Koda and even the laces on the my G Field boots became and accessory. I gave myself bonus points for the color matched lipstick and chunky gold jewelry, and cute hair from DeLa.

 

The Cala Seona bag from YS&YS has always been a favorite, I can't resist the touch of the contents of the bag peeking out. It was a bit of a chicken and egg riddle pulling this look together, I fell in love with the new trench from Mon Tissu, I opted for the bright blue color and then remembered the amazing Fame Pumps from LeLutka, a marriage of the right colors for the bag and trench, I needed just the right bottom to go under the coat, and the Celoe Nikka skirt was a great option. The final touch, the sunglasses from Yummy (worn up), made for a great unexpected accessory on an outfit that would have gotten a bit too 'old' with the addition of a necklace or scarf.

Pumpkin Spice

Orange has never been a favorite color, but sometimes I like to shake things up by challenging myself to work with the unfamiliar. I decided to embrace orange and combine it with graphic shapes and prints to create a series of looks that I call Pumpkin Spice.

For my first look I played with the scale of a dot covered outerwear coat by Saikin over tailored shorts by House of Fox, I loved the way the texture of the coat was layered shades of orange, rust and black in multiple dot sizes. The boots are a brand new release from Babette Ultsch over at Kitties Lair, if you have never checked out the footwear she designs you are missing a real treat, her latest are rigged mesh and the perfect fit over my socks by Maitreya.

 

I took advantage of some great orangey accessories, the flower by Mon Tissu was intended for the lapel, but works great in my hair too! I added some pretty pearly jewelry by Donna Flora and grabbed a bag by DDL. Never underestimate the power of a great bag in SL... I can't ever have enough of them!

 

For the second look I fell in love with the graphic print of the Graph It Up babydoll dress, and Flat Cube earrings, both by Maylee Oh from The Secret Store. More great footwear from Kitties Lair here, the Bulldog Booties have a great modern shape and look sassy over socks. Additional accessories here are by Redgrave, a great new watch, Chained Desire in Silver, and some sexy shades called Laurita, both fit in with the simplicity of this traffic stopping ensemble.



Lastly, I classed it up with this sexy mesh June Dress from Celoe, and necklace and earrings by Caroline's, out today at Cinema. The houndstooth booties, Hunter by Gos, add the eyecatching print this outfit needed, worn here with simple black tights, they strike a balance between the bright orange of the dress and the intricate pattern of the boots, neither steal the show. Skins for this post are by League, the Jen skins have great make-ups and lip options, and one of my favorite hairbases that are part of the skin, they made it possible for me to mix and match hair pieces from booN - a collection of bits and pieces, bangs and ponies, that can give you a one of a kind look, I have never regretted buying them.

Pretty. Edgy.

One of the best things about Fashion in Second Life is the seemingly complete lack of rules, sure there are some basic Do's and Don'ts, for example 'do wear things you love' and 'don't wear bling or facelights... ever.', but really the possibilities are endless. When pulling together looks for this blog post, the first of our newly revived blog, I considered how easy it is to match cutting edge fashion with well made basics, and create outfits that are both pretty and edgy.

 

 

I was most impressed by the adorable new Birdie Skirt by The Secret Store, not only is it beautifully rigged and textured, the bird motif is a lovely subtle pattern that makes it easy for people who normally steer clear of prints to wear one. The Secret Store designer Maylee Oh also offers the skirt in solid shades and breathtaking photo skyline prints, each skirt includes a belt with bow detail that can be worn with other outfits as well.

 

For this first look I paired the skirt with the YmreBoots, newly released by Color.Me.H.O.F. (House of Fox), they come in plenty of dark neutrals and vibrant pastel shades, I was drawn to the delicious lavender shade and that became the theme that would run through this entire post. I just love the quilted suede panels, back zippers and black striped wedge heel on these, they are unlike anything I have seen before in SL. I layered on the sheer version of Mon Tissu's ruffle edged shell and 'Take Flight' necklace for an extra hit of femininity and whimsy.

 

 

Next I wanted to slip into the well made Zippered Skinny Jeans from Maitreya, in lavender again, these rigged mesh pants fit like a dream, and small details like the ankle zippers give them such a realistic appeal. I paired it with the silky Amy Blouse from Erratic, its soft flowing blouson effect skims perfectly over your form. I loved the studded flats from Toki Doki in black, and the sexy little Gotzsche City Clutch for that ultimate taste of jet-set rockstar style.

 

 

To round out this fashionable trio of looks I decided to vamp it up in Celoe's Clara Corset and Yasmine Pants, a perfect blend of softly flowing harem style pants against the rigid but oh so sexy construction of this classic leather corset. Slink's new Studded Booties with their high spiked metal heels, and this soft lacy veil made by LaGyo available at Collabor88 demonstrate once again that edgy and pretty are meant to be together. The striking Faith Skins by PXL Creations, with their many edgy eye and lip make-up options, and my hair fetish du jour LeLutka, gave me more than enough options to go with all of these styles.
