Relay For Life, for Feet.

Some very special offerings from our great SL™ shoe makers that deserve some attention are those created to support Relay For Life®. The two I am featuring today are from Fallingwater Cellardoor's Shiny Things and Lyra Muse of the newly opened Jaywalk - though her talents are remembered well from her days as LC Vamp.

These sweet Francoise Flats in a special swirled version are available at Shiny Things.

Revolutionary in Rubber

I thought I had seen it all... OK, I never thought that, but these great new Rubba boots from Storm Schmooz caught me completely off guard. Bright in golden yellow and emblazoned with a flamingo pink pop art image of Che Guevara these high heeled, high shine boots are completely fab, right down to the pink grommet and tie accents.

So nice to see designers using the shoe or boot as a canvas for imagery and art. My guess is that this is just the first of some upcoming great new items from Storm Schmooz, so regular visits to the main store at Viva La Glam are highly recommended.

Rare Beauties

Maitreya's latest, called the Mishima Dawn, is named after a rare exotic orchid... how fitting. This pump with ankle boot aspirations is the most amazingly complete shoe yet released by Onyx and Beau, and the fit is awe inspiring. The colours are muted and earthy, the textures run the gambit from soft to speckled suedes, and rough to high shine patent leathers, and crocs... all of which are rendered with undeniable precision. Shown below is the Patent Tan, my personal fave.

There are 25 variations in all, some -much like the Slinky Stiletto- come with optional steel heel accents. Highly Un-Heeled

I love shopping at Mimikri, great stuff - great colors... but until today I had basically ignored the Sven Olbers footwear department in the Mimikri Hot Couture main store. Today that changed when I saw these interesting 'heel-less' heels on the feed. I scooted my butt on over to check them out and decided on grabbing the Green-Flower version to share here... well unfortunately it seems the vendor contained the Aqua-Flower ones... one of those things that can happen**. No worries, I left an offline for Sven and proceeded over to 'heart' Cupcakes to see the dress newness I had yet to see. Found a great dress - that I just LOVE with the colours of the Aqua shoes - so really, things ended up well.

The Shoes are of the traditional prim variety, and are certainly attractive and 'on trend' with real world fashion. I love the bright colorful versions especially. As with many one piece ankle strap shoes you will see a bunch of ankle glitching as your ao plays or you pose, but that doesn't really bother me much when wearing. I did see a few tiny issues with the invisible prims making my toes look a bit short in places, not enough to deter me from wearing these though. Any minor issues are completely overshadowed by the great style of these 'heel-less' heels.

Irresistible

Well is certainly seems like sandal season is upon us, so many great releases in the past few weeks... they are certainly keeping me on my toes... hehe, get it? *slaps knee* Without the beautiful Graciana here to help cover the latest shoe news from across the grid, it seems I am forced to have to review all these lovelies myself, and really - no complaints from me. Just look at these amazing new Celine Sandals from DeLa... couldn't you die! Kuranosuke Kamachi has done it again - love, love, love 'em.

The sculpted heel and base on these sexy sandals is a most attractive shape, really well done. Incredible colorful textile wrap on the toe, and the wow factor of a tied ankle and hanging sculpt and flex bow, sensational. The eye catching metal and semi-precious stone accents are simply gorgeous.My only problem was deciding which one to wear today... I eventually settled on this spectacular Zebra.

I think I officially bought one pair of shoes too many...and killed my laptop! Seriously, it up and died...so until it gets fixed I have to suffer on a very, very, old machine. I also don't have PSP..and I think I might go crazy...I had to use paint????? Anyways, if you are wondering what shoe box I am hiding in, I just wanted you all to know! I still am around as much as I can be...and am Anessa's biggest fan, so I know you will be very well taken care of!

Spring Sprung, Finally.

Yay! I am so happy that the work of changing Retrology over to Spring has been completed. I was getting so tired of the snow and drab, but all that is gone now and it's blooms of color all around. Part of my Spring ritual involved a bit of cleaning for my bulging 'to review' folder, and that's when I remembered these sweet floral sandals that I have been hanging on to for months. Today seemed like the perfect day to share them.

These Flower Strap Mules by Luly are just too sweet. They look as if they have been made from twisting vines and pretty flowers, and I love the way the provided foot shape works with them - a nice balanced fit no squashed toes or wonky arch. The set of 3 pairs comes with matching flower necklaces, and though I am showing you the green versions - they also come in Black and Sepia with various flower colors.

One to Watch: JE*REPUBLIC

My RL sister Jhuzen Ketsugo tipped me off to a great little shop last week, and we immediately collaborated our dress buying talents to do a post for her blog, SL Fashion Addict on the neat stuffs at JE*REPUBLIC. Creator Jungeun Vella makes more than adorable dresses, she dabbles in making some super cute hair and accessories... and oh yes - boots!

As luck would have it I ran into Jungeun at a recent fashion show and while complimenting her on her great things she offered me the opportunity to share a look at these great Leg Warmer Boots with the readers of 'On Your Toes'. I am so pleased to make her only the second One to Watch in this blog's history. The boots are great and funky and I love the shape of the gold buckles.

Over in the land of Camilla Yosuke, home to some of the sexiest lingerie on the grid, there has been an often overlooked element- that being the shoe department. INSOLENCE is a well known name these days, the lingerie gets attention, the skins too are pretty great... but I am the shoe girl first and foremost, so I am thrilled to share with you the latest release from this gifted creator, which I was lucky enough to receive today.

The April Sandal is a classy sexy sandal with sculpted elements that add sparkle and pizazz. These shoes are amazingly well textured and there is a lot of nice detail going on too. I love them paired with this slinky mini dress look from Ivalde, but they work just as well with your favorite summer skirts, dresses and lingerie... my guess is they look just fine on you naked too.

SLife Imitates Art

I have been collecting these photos for a little while now, my collection grew out of a wish list of shoes I would like to see in SL (more on that in a future post) - but evolved into a tribute to the amazing shoes that have been produced. I apologize in advance for the photo heavy post - and for the departure from our normal review format, but I felt it was timely to demonstrate just how beautifully done these shoes are. Obviously some are more closely related to the RL images than others, and again similarity might be purely coincidental - but it's fun to compare don't you think?

It has amazed me just how many of SL's top content creators have dipped into the RL fashion pools to bring my feet things straight off the runways of Paris and London, and I love it. Please understand, I am in no way implying that there is anything wrong with collecting inspiration for SL creation - we see it in SL architecture, vehicles, weapons and dance animations too (thriller dance anyone?). We live in a world where before the first award is handed out at the Oscars, discount fashion houses begin madly producing near duplicates of the red carpet gowns. We are also familiar with the fact that sometimes legitimate RL brands produce items so similar to other higher end brands that it can be hard to tell the difference - the result here can be very costly and cause loss of sales to designers.

In SL we are treated to endless possibilities, will having a pair of shoes that look like Manolo Blahnik or Christian Louboutin in SL cause a RL designer to lose profits? nope. Are the skills required to produce such amazing products in SL things that top RL designers have the time or patience to learn? doubtful. Instead we rely on people with technical skill and creative vision, and the ability to mold the common prim or pixel into something so much greater than we can even imagine to create footwear for second life ...or skins ...or gowns.

Perfect Peeps

Don't you love the unexpected? Today the unexpected came in the form of these fabulous Peep Toed Heels from Babette Ultsch of Kitties Lair. I really like the chunky heel and moderate platform. The buckle detail is amazingly well done, and the variety of colors and textures is wide enough to accommodate many tastes. I especially love the Vintage Silver, the metallic is so perfect on these things... Babette really works well with metallics in clothing and footwear.

One to Watch: TOSL

I saw a great post on Tarissa Tripsa's blog, Fallobst, that featured some neat looking boots from Tree of Second Life, TOSL. The lace-ups by creator Quinlan Quimby are rather special, as is pretty much everything she offers in her adorable shop at Cotton Candy (where I located the boots) or her Main Store. She has a bunch of pretty dresses, some great separates and accessories and a small line of shoes and boots that compliment all of the rest. The TOSL Cobbler Boots (here I am wearing the 'Sucre Bleu') are loaded with details, wrapped in ribbons, interesting textures and nice shapes. All this put Quinlan on my list as 'One to Watch' ... check out TOSL soon!

From Head to Toes

If you are anything like me you race over to ETD the second that the new releases are out, braving lag, being trampled by people whom you have not yet rezzed for... and yesterday, a SL glitch that made it impossible to buy... oh the horror, it had us fainting right there in the NEW hair section. But lately Elikapeka Tiramisu has done more than offer us perfectly sculpted hairs, she has managed to also offer us equally tempting goodies for our avatar feet.

As soon as I saw these amazing Hampton Wedges I knew that they needed that extra attention, and after not so subtle begging (during the 'don't buy till we say it's OK' throws of yesterday afternoon...) she kindly gave me review copies so that I could share them with you. What amazes me about these is the level of craftsmanship the ETD footwear has reached in such a short amount of time. The shape of the wedge is fantastic, there is a nice heel cup that gives them a great retro feel - and the overall wrap of the foot is well done... not to mention the amazing selection of colors, 12 in all.

Wow so many great releases this past weekend, still catching up! Here are the latest from Miss Tesla Miles, the cute little cobbler behind TESLA Shoes. Today's newness is the Sherry Sandal and they have all the sweetness we have come to expect from TESLA, I am pretty sure these are her first strappy sandals... I hope this means the 3 feet of snow on my doorstep will be gone soon.

They come in 9 great shades with gemstone inspired names, have a pale silvery platform style base and nicely detailed buckles. I really like the muted jewel tones.

Sugar and Spice

It has been an interesting weekend, and I was without Internet access for most of it, so I am a bit behind on the bloggery - but that doesn't mean I am without some great shoes to show off! Melanie Zhao of ZHAO Shoes dropped a ton of new stuff on me on Friday, here are 2 of my faves from her new release... something sweet and something with some bite!

For a sweet treat I love these Callie Cork Soled Maryjane's, shown here in black. They have a cute pair of buckled straps and a nice high heel, that comes with 2 cork options. They are certainly a great looking pair of shoes... and like I have said before, a traditional prim shoe done well is perfectly welcome in my closet! this is one of those.

Also among the new releases are the oh-so-high Tamara Lace-Up Platforms these certainly make a spicy little statement, with a laced-up upper and a shiny shiny platform below... a real spike of a heel is certainly an attention getter. I love these with my socks from Dutch Touch (complete with prim ankle attachments that are not part of the shoe).

Treats from Enkythings

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, and while Enkythings creator Enktan Gully is far from an old dog - It seems that the traditional prim shoe construction wizard has picked up some new tricks. I can only imagine the challenge of learning to create footwear with sculpted prims, and doing it at the level you are used to providing to your customers. I think Enktan has really hit on that with the latest release of the Nana Pumps.

Admittedly I have neglected visiting Enkythings for far too long, my yellow Talyn Pumps are still a staple in my wardrobe... but since the addition of sculpties to the line I haven't really taken a good look, that ends today. The Nana Pumps are really lovely, a delicately shaped slide pump with subtle texturing and offered in the usual gazillion colors... OK only 24 colors, but that's plenty to enjoy.

Previous releases included the Gyala Slides with all sorts of sole options and funky rivet details and toe decoration, and a classic sculpted stacked wooden heel pump called Menisa (shown below). Both are available alongside the Nana Pumps at Enkythings headquarters.

When it Rains...

It seems that some good things are happening in the non-stiletto world lately too... and wouldn't you know it I found these great Tattoo Rain Boots by Coke Dreadlow of UBU (Urban Bomb Unit) at just the right time, when I needed to just take it easy and get into something comfy. They are such great sculpted rain boots, I am loving the construction of these things... the soles are beyond real - perfect texturing all over the boots really... and I so love the retro tattoo artwork. They may be blue, but they made my feet a bit cheerier today.

In Step with Maitreya

Onyx LeShelle was kind enough to share her new releases with me today. She had actually hinted to me soon after the ChiChi debuted that there might be some suede in my future, I am pleased to share with you the new Verve Pumps from Maitreya. As always, the very best in rounded toed pump goodness, with similar features to the ChiChi but an amazingly high more traditionally styled heel.

The Verve comes in 9 muted and rich shades, and are a perfect carry over shoe from winter to spring. They also come with 2 sole options, a black and a light natural leather - making it even more versatile. The suede texture that Maitreya has created is second to none, and the shape and attention to detail are really superbly done (I learned that I wear size 38.5!). Colors are; Violet (Shown Above), Blue, Plum, Lavender Blush, Green, Black, Red, Brown & Olive.

I also found them to work amazingly well with the previously released sueded Anklets. The Anklets also come in an amazing 9 colors - 9 seems to be the magic number, not to mention an abundance of amazing violets and purples. The Anklets are a great shoe accessory and come with either a uniform 1 color version or with a contrasting black lace.

Also new today are 9 - yep 9 again - new shades of the pointed toe Slinky Stilettos, they consist of mostly brights, and brights are certainly what this coming spring is all about. Colors are; Grape, Pine Green, Tawny, Steel Blue, Lilac, Lime Green, Pink, Turquoise and Purple. Also check out the redesigned shoe department at the flagship store on Glam World 2.

Fashion for Fido...as long as the dog doesn't chew my shooos!

Mark the day on March 6th is the start of the "Fashion for Fido" charity auction! Raising funds for the K-9 New Life Center, ONE OF A KIND designs and special creations will be offered on the block!

Pretty Periquita...

So I begged Erpla Prieto of Periquita Shoes to please show me the new things she has been up to and she was generous enough to send over her 2 newest. I have to confess that it was Anessa who saw Erpla's flickr and tipped me off, she's just too damn good at finding shoes! First is the Bootie Shoes, a sculpty and shapely design. Now the best part is that the colors are bright, wild and fun. I'm ready to push my blacks, brown, and navy to the back of the closet and welcome the warmer months, and that means bright colors. For now I think I'll ease in with my feet! Just take a look below at the selection, but I must warn you, these are not color combinations or textures for the meek!

The Fat Dolly is chunky and equally as colorful, with a bit of a peak from the inside lining on the top of the shoe. Shiny and slick looking, these are unique and flashy. Just like the Bootie shoe, these are in some pretty funky and fun color combinations! I played it on the safer side with a chocolate and black combo for the full picture..go figure, but that doesn't mean I won't spice it up later! Check out Periquita In World!

10 Seconds in Paradise

Graci wins the shoe sleuth award of the day, her afternoon visit to Armidi netted us quite the little discovery. 'TP me!' was all I could say, and then fingers crossed that I didn't crash on the way. By the time I reached the site Graci had already made her first purchase - and there they were the new Dhali Bow Platforms. I had been waiting for these - ever since I saw the spread in Second Style Magazine about the Armidi gals - you can bet I noticed their feet more than anything else.

Unfortunately SL had it's way with us today, I made my first purchase - amazing and red on a dark wood stacked platform heel, and by the time Graci tried to grab a second pair transactions were failing across the grid. 'No Worries' I said, let's go snap some shots of these on the beach (not willing to risk another TP). So here they are... I would love to share all the names of the shades for you but Armidi booted us out soon after these photos were taken on the beach, a protective measure against stale transactions. But as you can see many combinations are available.

In any case - they are clearly fabulous, and worth any number of crashes and the like. As soon as you are cleared to shop without fear by the Linden's again, make your way over to Armidi to pick up the Dhali Bow Platforms. (Or check out the Armidi Blog.)

Twilight in Tableau

Yuuki Kurosawa makes sweet things in her shop Sugar Cube. Her Ketty line of shoes is small, but her latest release the Twilight Pump caught my eye when I saw it on the feed this morning. I like to have a variety of shoe styles in my wardrobe, ones that are hyper realistic with details that amaze, and also shoes that have a more hand drawn... err... hand sculpted feel to them. It just so happened that her release coincided with newness from Nylon Outfitters - and I so adore hand drawn clothing... I scampered off to Tableau to grab some goodies.

The shoes are undeniably cute, have a great shape and a nice moderate height. Grab a pair of these very reasonably priced pumps at Sugar Cube.
