Where The Day Takes You

 

Sometimes it is best to just go with the flow, start out without a plan and see where you wind up, that is the way these looks came together. I was having a hair craving (sounds worse than it is) and decided to visit Burley which I hadn't done in a while, and found two styles I had missed in the past. When !gO! released some very beautifully made soft separates, including these sweet open back blouses that have a great texture, I decided to throw them on and just kept pulling things together. I continued on my shopping trip and found myself at Toki-Doki where I scooped up more handbags, because well, I can't seem to resist them.

 

I pulled out a second look from !gO! to justify my purchases and continued my journey with a dip into my Redgrave footwear folder, I had a hunch I would find the muted rosey pink I was looking for, and something fun an funky to go with the cute frilly tunic dress with contrasting patterns. A few small understated accessories from Cae and Celoe got me to the end of the journey to style this post. So here you have it... for all the details read on.

 

Most Wanted

The things I want to find in real life; that perfect little black dress, those heels that look great with everything, unique accessories that will inspire a second look, that perfect red lipstick, a messy up-do with just the right balance of disheveled elegance, a manicure that never chips, long legs and flawless skin. Merry and Bright

You know that tiny thrill you get when you find something in SL that bears your avatar name? A hair, a skin, a dress... I confess I have been fortunate enough to be honored with such tributes in the past, but unexpectedly happening upon something with your name is always a joy. I happened to discover such a creation today while browsing contacts photos on flickr, there it was, a festive little hat from Bliss Couture, a spray of white loops of ribbon adorned with a delicate Poinsettia.

A hat this delightful deserves some attention, so I paired it with one of the lovely new gowns from Baiastice, a rich deep red dress with plenty of holiday sparkle, lovely in floor length mesh. The newly released sandals from Redgrave, are elegant and subtle in white, but come with 12 color options.

The warmth of yellow gold accessories combined with bright white pearls, like the ones in this utterly irresistible set from Cae, were a perfect final touch for my earrings, necklace, ring and bracelet. If you are still seeking the perfect gift for the ones you adore, I highly recommend visiting Cae and browsing the many lovely sets she has created. Any girl would be happy to find these in her holiday stocking.

Liquid Launch

I will be the first to admit that I don't fully understand the mechanics of rigged mesh, but I am always excited to see the innovative ways that designers are finding to make mesh products more customer friendly. There has been a lot of talk about deformers and similar methods to make mesh fit more body types, now Redgrave has released some new jeans created using a method that they have called Liquid Mesh, essentially eliminating the need for multi-sizes of mesh per item, and allowing the product to fit most avatars with minimal tweaking.

 

Though I can't speak to anyone else's experience with this technology, I found that the one size of Liquid mesh Metallic Jeans fit me really well, and that taking advantage of the technology I was able to use the 'foot size' slider to slightly widen the cuff at the bottom of the jeans so it sat better over my new shoes, also from Redgrave. The Keira2 Ankle Boots are a sexy leather bootie with a platform base and spike of a heel, I love the look and especially the teardrop shaped peep-toe opening at the front. The boots can be customized with three leather colors and mix and match parts.

 

I am also showcasing more accessories from the wonderful Cae collection, and would you believe that this amazing necklace and earrings are only 10L as part of the 'With Love... Hunt' going on right now? The stunning Flourish Set is color change to let you decide between silver and gold, and even multiple pearl colors set into the pieces. My sleek updo is from TuTy's, I have been wanting this one for some time and I am so glad I grabbed it to go with this sexy casual look.

A bare shoulder, a hint of stocking, a dangerously deep open neckline, not the most daring of fashion statements unless they make an appearance at one of the places you wouldn't expect to see them, the workplace. I decided to play 'take your avy to work' day and file a report on some looks that border on the risqué, making Monday mornings at the office something to look forward to.

 

Inspired by the Nyu Debut Peplum skirt, I put together a proper look complete with stockings and stylish but practical heels, Pow Pumps from LeLutka, and then added the unexpected Cowl Bodysuit by Epoque. The Pantone Satchel, the perfect size to hold important papers, also from Epoque and the flowery Vera accessories from Donna Flora, add polish to this monochromatic outfit. Hair tossed up in a tidy knot complete with loose pieces the frame the face and  back of the neck add the final dimension to this 'mix business with pleasure' makeover.

 

Finding a way to make covered up professional wear sexy is a snap with this ISON Shift Blazer Dress, it has beautiful clean edges and nice details like the double rows of buttons and flat pocket flaps. A feminine silk blouse like this classic one from Shai, gives the impression of softly billowing sleeves and a bow tied neckline. I carried the tone of the blouse into the over the knee Jazz boots from Maitreya, in nude, and then filled in the space between with a tease of thigh high lace topped stockings from Blowpop, still one of the sexiest collections of well made hosiery you can find.

 

Next I went for the more obvious approach, a sexy suit, this one from Paper Couture Fall 2008, is an effective argument for well made non-mesh clothing, the hand painted subtle pattern in the rich grape color, even the use of a system skirt for shape, sans shirt, becomes daring. By adding the corset style Traveler Belt by Ingenue, and some soft suede boots the look is elevated. Flashes of gold jewelry, like the Aviary Claw Bracelet from ISON, and an 'Entangled' collection of pieces from talented (and fellow OYT Blogger) Caelyn Hancroft, her line of Cae accessories will be available soon, complete this outfit.

SLink's Aussie Thongs

SLink released another "add-on" shoe for their mesh feet. The Aussie Thongs are a classic rubber flip flop. Included are rigged versions for women AND MEN, as well as an unrigged pair that is resizable.  Like the previously released add-on shoes, these can only be worn with SLink's mesh flat feet.

SLink Gets Strappy

Siddean Munro of SLink has released the Ilena Sandal, a strappy sandal perfect for summer. Ilena is an add-on for SLink's rigged mesh bare feet which means no fussing with skin coloring for a different shoe. Just wear your SLink feet and then add the Ilena Sandal and you're ready to go. Not having to recolor the skin saves frustration, but having the shoe as an add-on means a slight loss in realistic detail as there is no shading or changes to the foot from wearing the shoe. The Ilena Sandal can be dressed up and down making it a lovely addition to your shoe wardrobe.



Ilena is available individually or as a fatpack of 11 colors - aqua, black, blue, brown, gold, olive, pink, purple, red, taupe, and white. As with all mesh content, you must use a viewer that supports mesh in order to view them properly.

Gators

Gos' Gators are going to be taking the grid by storm at 4 PM SLT when Culture Shock opens its doors to the public. The textures and details on these mesh sporty clogs are absolutely amazing. I'll be completely upfront here - I am not a fan of the Gators' real life counterpart. I can't really explain it, they just make me cringe but for some reason in SL they're really cute. Gators can be worn by pretty much anyone, including child avatars, thanks to the resizing menu. The other nifty thing is these can be worn along with prim feet! So you can get a super-realistic look.



Like the rest of Gos' footwear, there are a ton of possibilities for the Gators thanks to the EIGHTEEN color updaters and extensively scripted menu system that allows for total customization. The strap, logo, upper, and sole can all be textured white or to whatever color updaters have been applied. Basically, you buy the base white Gator (during Culture Shock, 100% of the base Gator sales go to Doctor's Without Borders) and then buy whatever color updater you want.

Miel Timber Boots

Miel released the cute Timber Boots earlier this week for women and men. There are two versions of this boot, natural and brights. Each version comes with a number of colors and a TON of options.



 The boot, metal, soles, straps, stripes, socks, and laces can all be changed via the menu, allowing these boots to be completely customized. Resizing is also available via the menu and includes the ability to resize the height, width and depth of the boot for a perfect fit.

Desire Boot by Gos

The Desire Ankle Boot is the latest mesh boot from Gos and it is stunning. With a simple click, Desire can go from a seemingly tame leather ankle boot to an edgy, cap-toed boot with a ton of attitude.  Available in four colors - Crimson, Black, Chocolate, and White - the Fatpack option is the way to go as usual. The HUD and menu system on Desire allows the toe cap, sole, heel, and metal accents to be changed with a simple click. Gos released Triumph, a mesh Doc Marten style boot that is half laced with wide ribbon. Great Gatsby

Devi Booties by Maitreya

Earlier today, Maitreya released the mesh Devi Bootie, a short laced boot. The detailing on these boots is incredible, down to the stitched seam on the back of the boot. The leather texture is similar to that from the previously released Radical Boot, but since it's a shorter boot, I think the leather is less "oh my gosh" real. This is Maitreya's third mesh shoe, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Radical

So yeah... this is yet another boot post from me. Darn you, creators! Stop making such cute boots! Appropriately named, the mesh Radical boots from Maitreya are, well, radical. As part of Maitrya's first mesh release, these boots do not disappoint! The leather textures are amazingly realistic and the slouches are just perfect.



Choose between soft leather and reptile leather in black, caramel, chestnut, rust, snow, cerulean, coffee, red, sienna, smoke, or, if you're like me - fatpack one or both leather sets. There are rigged and unrigged versions included, along with a resizer HUD for the unrigged version. The rigged versions include four sizes. Fly High with these Aviator Boots by Gos

As I'm typing this, I realize this is my third boot post in a row. Maybe it's the cooler weather in real life, but really, I think it's just that the boots being released are just amazing. Today Gospel Voom of Gos released the absolutely stunning sculpted Amelia Aviator boots. (A version of these boots called Yeager was also released, so guys, don't feel left out!) Gos has really outdone himself with these boots. The textures and details are so realistic, especially the worn leather. There are five colors - Black, Camel, Chocolate, Tan, and Worn - each used at least once in my pictures because they are all just gorgeous. The metal detailing is colored to coordinate each individual leather and there is a tight and loose option for wearing.



Another option included are socks. You can choose to show the socks in one of sixteen colors or hide the socks to completely customize your look. Aviators... Engineer boots... whatever you want to call them, you want these boots and you want to fatpack them.

Meet Charlotte

As the weather gets cooler for many of us in the real world, SL seasons seem to change as well. Lately the most amazing boots have been created by some of SL's most well-known creators. What's more exciting though, is when a brand new store emerges. On Friday, a new store called Haberdashery opened and the Charlotte Riding Boots were part of its inaugural release.



Available in six colors - Black, Chestnut, Grey, Natural, Mahogany, and Walnut - these belted boots are a great start for the brand. The Charlotte Riding Boots are sculpted and include a plain boot as well as a socked version. My favorite is the Mahogany leather... It's just so rich looking. The one thing I'd like to see is the shoe part of the boot to be a little taller and a little less flat. The colors of these boots are rich and gorgeous - a great way to round out Haberdashery's casual collection. I can't wait to watch this brand grow!

Nina by Insolence

Nina is the newly released mesh, knee-high boot from Insolence. These boots are just gorgeous and look like buttery leather with a classic silhouette and stacked heel. They are mesh and come in three sizes - small, medium, and large. The medium sized boots fit me perfectly. Mesh has really improved the look of boots in SL. They move with the avatar legs in poses and are one fluid piece.



Nina is available in six colors - black, brown, cream, pink, purple, and white. These boots are perfect for wearing with jeans, skirts, and just about anything else you can think of. I've gone more casual with a sweater and jeans from Mon Tissu, accessorized with the amazing Chaos ensemble from MOOD.

Fall into the Glitter

Earlier this week, Siddean Munro of SLink released the absolutely gorgeous Glitter Peeptoe pumps. There really seems to be a vintage trend going on right now in the SL fashion community and these pumps are the perfect finishing touch. They are sparkly and feminine and just oh so cute. These shoes are mesh which means you need to be in a viewer that supports mesh in order to view them properly. They are available in eleven colors as well as a fatpack. The individual colors include two bow color options - matching and black - but the fatpack allows for complete customization by allowing you to mix and match all eleven colors. HUDs are included for resize/skin matching/nail color, nail tinting, size tweaking and the fatpack includes a HUD for bow and shoe texture changing.



I love these shoes so much. Before you try to match your skin tone to these shoes, you definitely will want to check out Siddean's tutorial video on how to quickly and easily get a perfect match. The video was easy to follow along with and I was able to get a really good match on my skin. Obviously you can't expect the shading and highlighting of the skin and foot to be identical, but using the blender layers that are included with the shoes really helps with this. The tinting was the quick part for me thanks to the video, but getting the correct sizing took me awhile. As you can see, a good fit is attainable with time and patience - and these shoes are totally worth that.

Footwear Favorites 1- The Pump

I love new shoes just as much as the next SL fashionista, but sometimes I find myself clinging to older releases to which, for some reason or other, I have become attached. So consider this a challenge of sorts. Basically once every week or two, I'll post my favorite in a certain category with the hopes that the lovely ladies here at On Your Toes will post theirs. I'd love to see others do this as well, so if you want to participate, please leave a comment with your post! It could be a great way to find new and lesser known stores as well as see the diversity SL has to offer.

This week's "category" is the Pump. So let's see your favorite close-toed, heeled shoes that no woman should be without.

One of my favorites are the Eve Flower Pumps from G*Field. Reasonably priced and scripted to color change and hide the flowers on each shoe, they're a great value for a plain pump that can be embellished a bit for other occasions. I've paired them with this simple Coquette dress from Icing for a flirty look along with some new ruby jewelry from Paper Couture.

SLink Astrid

Siddean Munro of SLink has really been treating us with her mesh creations. The latest is the Astrid Boot, a gorgeous ankle boot featuring a high stiletto heel and criss-crossed straps. Astrid is available in 16 beautiful colors/textures, but I recommend springing for the fatpack because it is scripted to allow for mixing and matching all 16 colors. This makes for a ton of combinations that will go with virtually anything!



Astrid includes a HUD that allows for resize and color change on the fatpack. These boots are just gorgeous, versatile and a great addition to your SL wardrobe. As mesh, the Astrid Boots require Viewer 3 or another viewer that supports mesh.
