Beauty and grace are never out of place. One designer who has long represented not only beauty and grace, but also nod to the classic, is Donna Flora's Squinternet Larnia. I first met this generous designer  a few years ago when I invited her to bring her beautiful dresses and accessories to Retrology, later I blogged her often, and modeled her clothing on the the SL runway multiple times. I found her to be sweet, and friendly, and oh so talented. Recently myself, and the rest of the SL community, became aware of her battle with cancer, and as often is the case, SL answered with its usual outpouring of affection for one of our own. The Love Donna Flora fundraising event was created by some very caring individuals and it was quickly supported by dozens of designers and bloggers, all hoping to make a contribution to celebrate and support this wonderful and talented individual.

 

I am not only wearing some beautiful Donna Flora accessories, but also a new skin by longtime friend of the designer Hart Larson of PXL Skins. Jade just hit the store in full release yesterday, and she is a beguiling sweet face with beautiful options, and an incredible body. The gown is a creation by Sissy Pesoa of Baiastice, created specifically for the Love Donna Flora event, it is a perfect dress to create a canvas to display your Donna Flora jewels. The shoes are another perfect fit from Gos Boutique, these ones feature a removable heel cup, so you get two looks in one. I have merged the two styles into the one photo so you can see with and without the heel cup.

Strawberry Wine

Here we are at week six of 50 Shades of Sexy, the Blogger Challenge issued by Unapologetic Second Life Fashion Blog. In case you were wondering what happened to week five... well, let's just say the picture turned out a bit steamier than I had originally intended, what can I say, sexy happens. I did post it on my flickr stream here, in case you are curious, but felt it was a bit more risque than I would be comfortable posting on my fashion blog. Powdered Sugar

Hard to believe it is already the fourth week of 50 Shades of Sexy, the Blogger Challenge issued by Unapologetic Second Life Fashion Blog. This week the theme was 'Pour Some Sugar On Me', and once again I am offering up my loosest translation of the theme, this one achieved by playing a little word association; sugar... powdered sugar... powder blue, see where we are going with this? All dolled up in the sweetest powder blue lingerie I could find, a few extra bows in my hair and my mission is accomplished. Finishing Touches

Understated and Elegant, sometimes it isn't about what you put on as much as it is about what you don't. Linden Labs gifted us with multiple attachments per body part, loads of layers, and the wonders of mesh... but that doesn't naturally mean that we need to load up on the accessories and go all out. A little goes a long way when you choose to let it, a simply elegant cocktail dress with a gorgeous brocade texture from MichaMi, jewelry that manages to be chunky and light at the same time from Donna Flora, and a clutch fit for a royal engagement from Swallow, it all adds up to so much more then the sum of its parts.

Pretty Please

A sweet style for a Sunday. Soft colors and textures, girly and glamorous, and definitely pretty. The starting point is the delicate babydoll dress from Tres Blah, layers of sheer pink with golden sequins to top it off, a new release at Collabor88. The shoes are again the new Liaison from Maitreya, the unexpected half sock adds a youthful tilt that complement the dress and make it feel more modern. Accessories are a bit of a mix and match situation, delicate antique drops from Donna Flora, a modern oversized floral ring from Maxi Gossamer, and a studded clutch from O&N.

Windows and Doors

No big points for naming my blog post today, suffice to say that the new releases from Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice are much better than the title of this post. It is a big release, perfectly timed between Fall and the oncoming Winter months, this collection of thigh high boots, sweaters, skirts and trousers is repleat with rich color and texture. A great combination of stylish and classy separates.

Look one combines the clean white of a soft angora sweater and matching suede boots, and the kick of rich blue leather of the Floky skirt, with a hint of shine and a tease of zipper on the leg, all three of these from Baiastice. A little extra glamour from the pop of red lipstick and striking blue eyeliner, and the finishing details like the bow/collar style necklace from Donna Flora, the clutch by Orta and the flowing hair by exile.

 

Next I applaud the look of well made trousers, ones that skim the figure rather than reveal every inch of it (typically including a healthy dose of butt cleavage). These Milano Trousers from Baiastice have a chic velvety look to them and a built in skinny belt. Worn here under the Angora Cross Sweater, in a rich cranberry color, the look is festive and would be a comfortable choice for a pre-holiday event or get together meant for sharing a meal. A generous multi-strand pearl collar necklace from Donna Flora is more than enough accessory for this look, and the shoe of choice is the slender and pointy Zoe Pump from Celoe.

Finally, a method to being covered up and attractively wrapped in luxurious fabrics, and yet still suitably sexy. The suede version of the Floky Skirt, another new item from Baiastice, is a perfect match for other new items, the Merino turtleneck sweater and the fabric version of the Knee Platform Stretch Boots, all in olive tones, a favorite color. Gem encrusted earrings, a chunky gold bracelet and a small handbag complete my favorite look of the three.

In The Bag

Inspiration for a new outfit can come from many sources; a mood, a color, a great pair of shoes... and oh yes, a great little bag. Sometimes the pieces don't come together all at once, but I am constantly collecting bags whenever I find one that is a little special, and sometimes the pieces fall into place just like that. My taste in purses, bags and clutches is as eclectic as the rest of my wardrobe, running the gamut between practicality, fashionability and whimsical cuteness.

 

The little hedgehog clutch by Snowboa, was a Marketplace find and I was thrilled to see the level of detail was as good as the picture made it look. This sweet little thing haunted me, wanting to find just the right outfit to wear it with. When I saw the latest little cocktail dresses released at Eaters Coma, my memory for color kicked in and I just knew I had found the right thing. I added a few darker touches, the little bolero sweater from Innoc, and these perfect Ren lace-up boots from LeLutka, and the result was as cute as the clutch.

 

The Jewel toned and chunky gold accented stud bag from Swallow was the next gem to make the cut. I found the button down shirt from House of Fox, the gold studded collar was a perfect match. I pulled out more color from the bag with the cute skirt from Whippet & Buck, the tights from Koda and even the laces on the my G Field boots became and accessory. I gave myself bonus points for the color matched lipstick and chunky gold jewelry, and cute hair from DeLa.

 

The Cala Seona bag from YS&YS has always been a favorite, I can't resist the touch of the contents of the bag peeking out. It was a bit of a chicken and egg riddle pulling this look together, I fell in love with the new trench from Mon Tissu, I opted for the bright blue color and then remembered the amazing Fame Pumps from LeLutka, a marriage of the right colors for the bag and trench, I needed just the right bottom to go under the coat, and the Celoe Nikka skirt was a great option. The final touch, the sunglasses from Yummy (worn up), made for a great unexpected accessory on an outfit that would have gotten a bit too 'old' with the addition of a necklace or scarf.

Five Easy Pieces

I have never been the type to attach an accessory to every possible point or layer random items just because I can, instead dressing my avatar is as easy as 1, 2, 3... 4, 5.  In the same spirit as the popular cooking show 'Five Ingredient Fix', I decided to attempt three looks that have only five clothing and accessory components to them. The basis for each of these looks include the newly released rigged mesh jeans from The Secret Store and brand new footwear by Donna Flora. That left only three additional items per outfit, not as easy as you might think, but still fun!

 

My first look today is a colorful mash-up with a seasonal feel, inspired by the great Hello/Goodbye Floral Bag by DDL here, the soft sunny peach color of the denim and bold blue of the Donna Flora Ermes Pumps work well with the beautiful green shade of the sweater. My final touch was the skinny chocolate colored scarf from Maitreya. The very casual mix of elements here is complimented by the All For Love tresses by Exile, this style is a new release for the current edition of My Attic at The Deck, I love the softly flowing shape of this rigged mesh style.

 

I love the look of the rigged mesh Leather Biker Jacket from Grasp, it is one of those stores that, sadly, I keep forgetting is there, and when I do visit again I always find something neat, this jacket was no exception. Though the color is described as brown, I found it black enough to go perfectly with the black Rise Skinny Jeans from The Secret Store and these grey Ermes Boots from Donna Flora. For a pop of color underneath I added a Maitreya Bra Top and completed this rock and roll five-some with a funky long necklace from Maxi Gossamer, complete with peace sign.

 

Things take a considerably sweeter turn when I make three of the five in pretty pinks, from the pastel high waisted jeans in the Candy shade and Pink Ermes Boots, and the soft cropped look of the cardigan sweater. To add some interest I wore a wrinkled and tucked tank from Dutch Touch, and the amazing Ceramic Flower Headpiece from Piddidle, another goodie from My Attic. The outfit has a touch of Hollywood glamour and the ease of casual separates, five more reasons that less can be more.

Risqué Business

Hazardous; risky; esp., fig., verging upon impropriety; dangerously close to, or suggestive of, what is indecent or of doubtful morality; as, a risqué story.

A bare shoulder, a hint of stocking, a dangerously deep open neckline, not the most daring of fashion statements unless they make an appearance at one of the places you wouldn't expect to see them, the workplace. I decided to play 'take your avy to work' day and file a report on some looks that border on the risqué, making Monday mornings at the office something to look forward to.

 

Inspired by the Nyu Debut Peplum skirt, I put together a proper look complete with stockings and stylish but practical heels, Pow Pumps from LeLutka, and then added the unexpected Cowl Bodysuit by Epoque. The Pantone Satchel, the perfect size to hold important papers, also from Epoque and the flowery Vera accessories from Donna Flora, add polish to this monochromatic outfit. Hair tossed up in a tidy knot complete with loose pieces the frame the face and  back of the neck add the final dimension to this 'mix business with pleasure' makeover.

 

Finding a way to make covered up professional wear sexy is a snap with this ISON Shift Blazer Dress, it has beautiful clean edges and nice details like the double rows of buttons and flat pocket flaps. A feminine silk blouse like this classic one from Shai, gives the impression of softly billowing sleeves and a bow tied neckline. I carried the tone of the blouse into the over the knee Jazz boots from Maitreya, in nude, and then filled in the space between with a tease of thigh high lace topped stockings from Blowpop, still one of the sexiest collections of well made hosiery you can find.

 

Next I went for the more obvious approach, a sexy suit, this one from Paper Couture Fall 2008, is an effective argument for well made non-mesh clothing, the hand painted subtle pattern in the rich grape color, even the use of a system skirt for shape, sans shirt, becomes daring. By adding the corset style Traveler Belt by Ingenue, and some soft suede boots the look is elevated. Flashes of gold jewelry, like the Aviary Claw Bracelet from ISON, and an 'Entangled' collection of pieces from talented (and fellow OYT Blogger) Caelyn Hancroft, her line of Cae accessories will be available soon, complete this outfit.

Girls in White Dresses

Be it sweet, sassy or sexy, the perfection of a white dress is not lost on me. Without being bridal, the gentle white on white textures and interesting shapes allow you and your accessories to shine even brighter. I am featuring three very different white rigged mesh dresses, personalities as different and unique as the girls who wear them... luckily I got to play all three of those girls. Hooray for wearing white!

 

The first style comes to us a collaboration between NyuNyu Kimono, Nyu and Maylee Oh of The Secret Store, a sweet as pie babydoll dress with soft floral tone on tone print and long slightly belled sleeves. The sweetness and innocence of the dress inspired me to hop into a subtle Lolita look, knee socks from Maitreya and T-Strap shoes from G Field, and a sweet bunny ear headband from Y&R add to the appeal of this pretty little dress.

 

Next up, the Adele dress from Donna Flora, the dimensional tucking across the bustline and ruffled hem make this one pretty irresistible, an elegant oversized flower printed directly onto the dress make this much more than just a white dress. Simple white pearl accessories fit perfectly with this style, I love the generous pearl cuff from U&R Dogs and the simple necklace from Miam Miam (yes, Pearlie Pedro has listed some of her treats on Marketplace for 10L each, you might want to grab the whole bunch!). Shoes that have a little something extra special, the reflective magic of mirrored soles, these from Kitties Lair have been updated recently, they now have a HUD and alpha layer, and are a nice balance between sexy and stylish in white patent leather.

 

Deadly curves, deadly sweet that is, in the white version of BOOM's Hye Tube Dress. Interesting details like the rouching and floral printed centre panel with piped seams elevate the dress to simply eye catching, even in the absence of color. Elegant accessories like the Aliena set by Donna Flora and the petit fours bag from Paper Couture add sparkle and sweetness, the shoes are Breezie Stilettos from Nardcotix, the bow on the back of the heel is a great touch.

Pumpkin Spice

Orange has never been a favorite color, but sometimes I like to shake things up by challenging myself to work with the unfamiliar. I decided to embrace orange and combine it with graphic shapes and prints to create a series of looks that I call Pumpkin Spice.

For my first look I played with the scale of a dot covered outerwear coat by Saikin over tailored shorts by House of Fox, I loved the way the texture of the coat was layered shades of orange, rust and black in multiple dot sizes. The boots are a brand new release from Babette Ultsch over at Kitties Lair, if you have never checked out the footwear she designs you are missing a real treat, her latest are rigged mesh and the perfect fit over my socks by Maitreya.

 

I took advantage of some great orangey accessories, the flower by Mon Tissu was intended for the lapel, but works great in my hair too! I added some pretty pearly jewelry by Donna Flora and grabbed a bag by DDL. Never underestimate the power of a great bag in SL... I can't ever have enough of them!

 

For the second look I fell in love with the graphic print of the Graph It Up babydoll dress, and Flat Cube earrings, both by Maylee Oh from The Secret Store. More great footwear from Kitties Lair here, the Bulldog Booties have a great modern shape and look sassy over socks. Additional accessories here are by Redgrave, a great new watch, Chained Desire in Silver, and some sexy shades called Laurita, both fit in with the simplicity of this traffic stopping ensemble.



Lastly, I classed it up with this sexy mesh June Dress from Celoe, and necklace and earrings by Caroline's, out today at Cinema. The houndstooth booties, Hunter by Gos, add the eyecatching print this outfit needed, worn here with simple black tights, they strike a balance between the bright orange of the dress and the intricate pattern of the boots, neither steal the show. Skins for this post are by League, the Jen skins have great make-ups and lip options, and one of my favorite hairbases that are part of the skin, they made it possible for me to mix and match hair pieces from booN - a collection of bits and pieces, bangs and ponies, that can give you a one of a kind look, I have never regretted buying them.

Call Me Miss Cleo

 

Bright vibrant color and sexy shapes are the theme of the day. Inspired by some of the amazing goodies at the current installation of Collabor88, I pulled out all the stops and glammed it up with some great accessories and fringed hairstyles reminiscent of the diva of all divas, Cleopatra. Sure it is a little early for Halloween, but that doesn't mean we can't sink a little costumed flavor into our style.

 

The first piece of this puzzle was the fun patterned leggings, newly released from Baiastice, they demanded attention and after seeing the lips & lipstick adorned necklaces from Maxi Gossamer (out now at Collabor88) the colors just seemed so perfect. I grabbed a pair of ISON's latest footwear, the shoes have cute laces and a wedge heel, both can be color changed and allowed me to pick up some of the color from the pants, these are another Collabor88 steal. I rounded out the look with an ISON corset top in soft minty green, some pink armbands from an old Emery item, and some crazy long nails for extra drama. Experimenting with SL make-up layers is quickly becoming my new favorite thing, it wasn't long before I found the Cleo eye make-ups from a.e.meth adding in the heavily shaped and super fat fringed Keeley hairstyle by LeLutka, I was ready to climb the pyramids in style!



For my next look I went for more brights, and extended the Cleopatra theme with the Cleo Hair from LeLutka, the Cleo Jewelry from Donna Flora, a set with a wicked high golden collar necklace and a cuff bracelet with attached ring. The mesh leggings by Maitreya offer a couture foot option, so shoes are not neccesary, they add a unique sexy shape to the bottom of the leg. I am also wearing a new skin, I am loving the Jen skins made by Nena Janus at League, she sells the richer lip shade make-up layers, that I have worn with both of these looks, and I am so in love with the bold color options!
